Coors
Field Super Suites Denver, Colorado Size: 9,200 square feet Completion Date: Spring 2008 Rowland+Broughton teamed with HOK Sports to renovate nine existing suites and an adjoining common area at Coors Field to create a flexible meeting and events center for the Colorado Rockies. The program includes a ballroom, a meeting room and three new “super suites” which can be completely opened up to the baseball park with a retractable glass wall. The Rockies wanted to create an experience for guests distinctly different from the rest of Coors Field. The design is uniquely modern Coloradan with warm natural finishes that are evocative of state’s natural beauty and is grounded in the history and touchstone materials of baseball: stone, wood and leather. A “home plate” made of marble and a “pitcher’s mound” of accent carpet are laid out in regulation size and spacing to give visitors a sense of scale of being down on the ball field. The pinnacle design element is a stone concourse floor connecting each of the spaces that uses inlaid black granite to create a mountainscape depicting six Colorado “14er” peaks.
