  Courtyard House
Aspen, Colorado
Size: 6,700 square feet
Completion Date: June 2005

Colorado Homes and Lifestyles, “Fresh Start" June/July 2009

This remodel utilizes the existing home foundation and completely reconfigures the house to capture the site’s 360 degree views and establish programmatic hierarchy. Seamless indoor-outdoor relationships are established and reinforced through the use of glass and consistent materials flowing from the inside to the outside. The exterior and interior of the house is contemporary in form and uses warm materials with modern detailing. One enters the house through a garden courtyard, which becomes a tranquil and inviting outdoor room with a glass gallery stretching the length of one side. Once in the entry hall, the views open up to the ski slopes beyond. The main floor public spaces are inviting with natural light, views and generous floor plans to inhabit and entertain. The master wing is private with its own terrace and rooms filled with light from clerestory windows running the entire suite length. Guest bedrooms and amenities, such as the media room, all have unique relationships with the site and provide space for large gatherings.
