  DB3 Architects Home
Aspen, Colorado
Size: 800 square feet
Completion Date: June 2005
The first completed project in our Derberghof Condominium case study series explores the form and function of streamlined spaces. A downtown Aspen condominium is home to two partners of a local architecture firm with an office nearby. The space has been completely remodeled to suit modern professional life. The design uses a focused modern palette of concrete floors, warm cherry millwork, and white walls to unify adjoining spaces. The main public room is well appointed to function as living, dining and entertaining space. Work surfaces in the kitchen and home office are screened from view with a raised bar and built-in banquette creating definition. Bedrooms are equipped with dressing rooms and built-in platform beds with added storage behind the headboard and in large drawers.
