"Rowland+Broughton kept us on track! They acted as a facilitator by keeping all the thoughts, communications and discussions in order. Our home is a reality because of Sarah and John. From the beginning we established a reciprocal relationship. Their ability to keep the process moving forward by always taking it to the next level is unsurpassed. There were no compromises made so we achieved exactly what we wanted. As much as we want to design another home with R+B we want to live here forever." – Form House Homeowner, Aspen, Colorado

  Form House
Aspen, Colorado
Size:  5,750 square feet
Completion Date:  Summer 2009

This renovation meticulously reshapes a house in Aspen’s West End. The clients’ love of architecture and modern art dictates that the rigorous design focuses on form and the creation of clean uncluttered spaces. 60% of the existing exterior walls and roof are retained while the renovation transforms the house into a new modern dwelling. Rooms are relocated to claim views of the outdoors in multiple directions. The interior palette is neutral in greys and whites to allow the client’s art collection to take center stage throughout the house. A large book collection finds a worthy home in a double height library with overhead bridge. A residential elevator becomes a sculptural element, with its shaft of poured concrete formed with a proportional tatami mat design.
