This speculative, mixed-use project will serve the surrounding community of Carbondale with 8,000 square feet of commercial storefront zoned for business, retail or restaurant. The upper two floors will provide 20 residences, including some affordable housing units. Careful siting allows the building to both take advantage of, and also preserve views of Mt. Sopris. The architecture focuses on creating a playful box with overlapping facade materials. The design and construction are mindful of sustainability and the building will meet local green building and solar access requirements. Brise soleils and sunscreens serve as passive solar devices and form interesting design elements.
