  Live Work 1
Aspen, Colorado
Size: 730 square feet
Completion Date: March 2004

Aspen Sojourner Magazine, Mountain Homestyle Issue, “The New Guard” Mid-Summer 2005

A downtown ski in/ski out 1968 condominium functions as both an office for an architecture firm and a home for the two partners. The space has been completely remodeled to reflect a modern lifestyle. Recessed lighting coffers were strategically placed between joists in the ceiling throughout the public areas to give the illusion of height and imply spaciousness. Custom cherry millwork maximizes storage while becoming a segue between the kitchen and workstations. The design for the bathroom used modern natural finishes and clean lines that allow it to function successfully for both the live and work space. Oversized floor to ceiling pocket doors conceal the bedroom from the public spaces allowing for privacy and maintaining the illusion of height. Storage is maximized throughout the live/work space with under bed storage, a well appointed dressing area, shelving above the fireplace and workstations, and built-in cubbies and cabinetry.
