Boulder Bungalow Boulder, Colorado Size: 1,470 square feet Completion Date: Spring 2010 The remodel and addition of this typical Boulder bungalow satisfied two primary goals for the client. First, the renovation expands the original 630 square foot two-bedroom residence into a 1,470 square foot three-bedroom home. Second, energy-efficient improvements provide a tightened building envelope that meet and exceed the City of Boulder’s rigorous energy code. A completely modernized aesthetic is created for the 1950 residence incorporating a contemporary color palette that complements the new architecture. A full kitchen remodel increased the size and improved the flow of public spaces in the house; producing an open kitchen, dining and living room. The master bedroom was transformed into a master suite with a new master bathroom and enlarged closet. On the exterior a welcoming, “popped-out” front porch and wood entry trellis embellish the front of the bungalow. The roofline at the back patio becomes a wood trellis, carrying the theme from the front trellis and providing protection for outdoor living options.
