Traehus, Danish for “tree house,” is set amid a grove of old-growth oaks on the banks of the Sacramento River. This 1940’s ranch house is being expanded from the original 3,600 footprint to 7,000 square feet. Exterior materials consist of low-maintenance standing seam metal roofing and siding which are contrasted with stucco volumes. The new landscape scheme emphasizes the connection between indoors and outdoors, while framing views of the riverside oaks. This project will be completed in many phases.
