  R+B Aspen
Aspen, Colorado
Size: 1,288 SF Remodel
Completion Date: January 2007

Located in The Mountain Forge Building, just a block off Main Street, Rowland+Broughton’s Aspen office was formerly arranged as multiple enclosed rooms with no natural light penetrating the garden level space. In creating the work studio environment, the office was opened up to bring in natural light from the courtyard garden outside. Simple materials such as Appleply and off the shelf hardware, were used for design bullpens and custom millwork for work stations, drawing storage and the resource library. The office’s open floor plan facilitates constant design interaction between clients, contractors and consultants, and provides the opportunity for continuous dialogue between design staff, creating a truly collaborative design environment. Fully integrated technology allows the firm to conduct video conferencing with out-of-state and international clients, weekly project meetings with the R+B Denver team, and permits design staff to work remotely. The office’s central location enables staff to conduct site visits and meetings at a moments notice.

Sustainable components of the project include:
Energy efficient lighting
Reuse of existing space
Natural light & ventilation
Central location, employees bike, walk or take public transportation to work.
