  Red House
Willits Neighborhood Basalt, Colorado
Size: 3,500 square feet
Completion Date: September 2004

Colorado ASID Award - 2006
1st Place - Residential Under 3,500 square feet

This project offered the unique opportunity to work with fellow designer Robyn Scott, of Robyn Scott Interiors as a client. The 3-bedroom house is a completely customized redesign of a standard Willits home, reflecting the client’s tastes, site opportunities and a more modern twist on the mountain vernacular.  Windows framing views are realized through shed dormer elements, each with their own subtle variation. Well-proportioned rooms take advantage of varying ceiling heights created by the gabled volumes. An open bridge-like library opens up to the double height living room below. Exposed structural steel elements inside the house further defines spaces and the house's character.
