Sarah
Broughton, AIA Principal sarah@rowlandbroughton.com Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Sarah moved to Colorado to study Environmental Design in Architecture at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she graduated with honors in 1996. A winning submittal for a design competition sent Sarah to Australia, where she participated in the design of the 2000 Olympic Village Master plan in Homebush Bay, Sydney. After Australia, Sarah joined R.M. Kliment & Frances Halsband Architects in New York City as a Project Architect. Her projects included the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum renovation and new Visitor Center in Hyde Park, NY. This project was awarded through the General Services Administration Design Excellence Program and included a 200 seat auditorium. Sarah also completed a Master Plan for Smith College, Northampton, MA, as well as a prototype design and completion of International Technology Management Consulting Offices in Stamford, CT (recipient of 2000 New York State AIA Award). Returning to Colorado in 2000, Sarah joined Harry Teague Architects in Aspen. While with HTA, she contributed to the Aspen Music Festival’s master plan and was the project architect for two high-end residential projects in the Aspen area. With Rowland+Broughton, Sarah’s work includes designing and building custom homes and interior spaces. She collaborates with clients to deliver full service design including selecting finishes, furnishings and designing custom furniture. She is currently working on several unique residences, and a large mixed-used project in Denver. Sarah is a commissioner with the Historic Preservation Commission for the City of Aspen, dedicated to preserving historic resources while allowing for sensitive future development. She also sits on the board of the Aspen Young Professionals Association.
