  Tamarawood
Aspen, Colorado

This 1970’s mixed use building is modern in form and the design for its future is no exception. A unique collaborative project between the owner of a residential unit in the Tamarawood building and the building’s owner brings an opportunity. The deck expansion for a second floor residential unit will provide privacy for the residence as well as an opportunity for signage, sun shading and will address drainage concerns for the building. The partial exterior renovation will give the downtown Aspen building a fresh look. The design incorporates zinc panels, glass guardrails with standoffs, brise soleils, and wood accent caps and slats over the exposed concrete elevator shaft. Light boxes atop the existing concrete site walls will add a subtle glow and provide street appeal in the evenings.
