  Village House
Aspen, Colorado
Size: 7,500 square feet
Completion Date: August 2004
Sarah Broughton with Harry Teague Architects

The client wanted to build a house that would serve as a gathering space for her extended family. The house is designed as a village of smaller buildings, each having public spaces on the ground floor and private rooms for the different family members above. The village is sited on the edge of an open meadow with forest and beaver ponds on the perimeter. Each building is oriented to a different view, taking advantage of the full 360 degree orientation of the site. The public spaces between the buildings are carefully designed, becoming piazzas in the village.
