Residential – Custom Home
Located on a 3,000 square foot split lot in Aspen’s historic West End neighborhood, this unique three-level family home has been completely reimagined and repurposed. Taking a symbiotic minimalist approach to space planning and layout, interiors were reconfigured to maximize programming and create a sense of openness. Providing clarity to the plan, the circulation was shifted to hallways at the edge of the home.
With the goal of allowing as much natural light to penetrate into the spaces as possible, windows were specified to create a double-height experience upon entry, capturing views and to emulate the high-rise living experiences of the owners. Large skylights specified at the upper living-dining level blur the barrier between inside and out.
An open, curved stairway provides circulation among the levels, including to an open-plan lower level that encompasses a linear media-entertainment space and a bunkroom.
