Description

As a transitional building that bridges the commercial core and a residential neighborhood, the design for the Mountain Forge places emphasis on a layered transition between the surrounding scales.

The architecture of this second level and roof reconfiguration project shifts to accept building form from its neighbors in order to carefully relate to them. The gable ends of the building frame an intersection anchored on its corners by historic structures.

The Mountain Forge is respectful to the future while referring carefully to the past.

Materials on the building express seams and connections to reinforce the origins of the existing metalworking forge still present on the site.
