ASPEN ART MUSEUM UNVEILS FIRST “DESIGN ROOM” FOR ARTCRUSH 2025 GUEST CURATED BY SARAH BROUGHTON, FAIA
ASPEN, CO — June 26, 2025 — Rowland+Broughton Architecture and Interior Design is honored to announce that a conceptual design room curated by founding principal Sarah Broughton, FAIA, NCIDQ, will be featured in the 2025 ArtCrush Auction Exhibition at the Aspen Art Museum. Titled In the Garden, the Design Room is an experiential tableau vivant, displaying the items curated for the silent auction.
Unfolding as an intimate portrait in space, the Design Room will be on view at the museum from July 15 through August 2, 2025, in the lead-up to the ArtCrush Gala on August 1. Works exhibited within the Design Room will be available for auction through Christie’s online platform, open for bidding July 22 through August 2.
“This project offered a rare opportunity to fuse narrative, architecture, and art into a single immersive environment,” shares Sarah Broughton. “In the garden, we gather to break bread, pause in the solitude, enjoy life’s beauty, and are thankful.”
With a career defined by thoughtful integration of architecture and experience, Broughton brings the same spirit to this installation. Meticulously composed with sculptural furnishings, lighting, and artworks selected in collaboration with the Aspen Art Museum curatorial team, the Design Room offers a quiet invitation into the personal rituals of collecting, hosting, and living with art.
The concept also draws inspiration from Broughton’s acclaimed monograph Designing Aspen: The Houses of Rowland+Broughton, published by Princeton Architectural Press, which explores the firm’s philosophy of contextual elegance and design as storytelling.
This year’s Design Room marks a first-of-its-kind contribution to ArtCrush, reinforcing the museum’s dedication to exploring the dialogue between contemporary art and lived experience.
