Nestled in the heart of Aspen, this three-level, ski-in/ski-out home originally built in the 1990s once harmonized with its wooded surroundings—but called for a thoughtful, contemporary transformation. Rowland +Broughton answered the call, introducing expansive, view-framing windows and sleek sliding doors, while simplifying glazing to enhance natural light and unobstructed sightlines.

Spanning more than 9,000 square feet, the renovation centered on the main and upper floors. A dividing wall between the kitchen and living spaces was removed to create an open flow, while the upstairs was reimagined into a seamless, gabled volume for the primary suite—uniting sleep, lounge, and workspace within one architectural gesture.

Interior details blend warmth with modern refinement. Existing oak millwork was lightly bleached to reveal its natural grain, and furnishings were carefully curated from a range of contemporary, design-forward pieces.

Below, the lower level was transformed into a cozy, flexible activity zone—ideal for everything from arts and crafts to indoor climbing. Designed for function and fun, it offers a perfect alpine retreat when snow days keep you indoors.
