ON VIEW NOW: Aspen Art Museum’s Inaugural Design Room

On View Now | Aspen, CO

As part of this year’s ArtCrush Auction Exhibition, the Aspen Art Museum (AAM) presents the Design Room—an immersive environment curated by R+B Principal Sarah Broughton, FAIA. Titled In the Garden, the installation is envisioned as a contemporary interpretation of a Milanese courtyard, offering a contemplative setting for experiencing art, design, and the rituals of everyday living.

Crafted in collaboration with the Museum’s curatorial team, the space is composed of sculptural furnishings, lighting, and artworks by celebrated artists and designers including Joaquim Tenreiro, Jacopo Foggini, Rogan Gregory, and Nason Moretti. These selections reflect a personal and professional philosophy anchored in contextual elegance and the power of narrative design.

“In the garden, we gather to pause, to share, to find beauty in quiet moments,” Broughton shares. “This project allowed us to explore how architecture, art, and storytelling coalesce to create meaningful spatial experiences.”

The Design Room offers a quiet invitation into the personal rituals of collecting, hosting, and living with art, while drawing inspiration from Broughton’s acclaimed monograph Designing Aspen: The Houses of Rowland+Broughton. The monograph explores the firm’s philosophy of contextual elegance and design as storytelling.

The Design Room is now open at the AAM and will be on view through August 2. Bidding opens online July 22 and continues through August 2. Click here to access bidding.
