R+B Celebrates 15th Anniversary This June

June 27, 2018, Marks 15 Years of Forward Thinking Design

Award-Winning Firm Specializes in Residential, Hospitality and Commercial Design in Colorado and Beyond

ASPEN, CO — March 22, 2018 — Rowland+Broughton Architecture / Urban Design / Interior Design is thrilled to celebrate ‘15 Years of Forward Thinking Design’ as we head toward our 15th anniversary on June 27, 2018.

Since opening our doors in Aspen in 2003, and in Denver in 2004, our multi-faceted firm has received national recognition for the quality and integrity of our work, as demonstrated in over 300 successfully completed residential, hospitality and commercial projects to date. Focused on providing the best possible designs for our clients, our team of multiple-licensed architects and interior designers has earned 23 AIA awards and numerous other design honors.

Our experience leading and designing award-winning projects allows us to exceed expectations for projects ranging from ground up to sensitive renovations. In turn, it gives us a unique understanding of the overall market, while providing a fresh and timeless aesthetic.

R+B’s Cultural Thread: Testing Conventional Thinking

R+B’s common ‘cultural thread’ is a collaborative process that tests conventional thinking. We are driven to building lasting relationships with our clients, and express our passion for our work through purposeful, thought-provoking design that relates to its surroundings.

Our home was transformed through the amazing ideas of the R+B team. It felt as if they could see through the walls in order to uncover a mountain contemporary home that lives as beautifully for two people as it does for eight. – R+B Client

Preservation and Stewardship – R+B believes in retaining the fabric of an environment from a historical and cultural standpoint, respecting the people who were here before us. We look at the merit of a structure, and, if it is worth saving, make it better. New build, restoration or remodel, we understand and respect how the context of the surroundings informs how a project will live.

R+B’s sound advice to save our home and renovate, instead of tear down to build new, their ability to listen to our ideas and include them, and most of all, their “ahead of the curve” design sense are the reasons our experience with them was so positive. – R+B Client

Leadership and Mentorship – Following the belief that architects can make the world a better place, ethically and environmentally, our principals, John Rowland, AIA, and Sarah Broughton, AIA, lead by example. Holistic and strategic growth is demonstrated by exemplary leadership, mentorship and tactical professional insight. We harness the experience and professionalism of Studio Leaders to influence and promote individual and studio-wide professional development.

The support and mentorship I have received as an emerging professional is how I was able to complete my AIA exams successfully. The leadership at R+B believes in the profession and discipline of architecture, prioritizing training and educating opportunities. This commitment to enhancing the profession has directly impacted where I am today. – Dana Ellis, AIA, Studio Leader

Wellness and Equality – Creating a well-balanced, healthy working environment is part of R+B’s cultural quest. Led by Director of Culture Izzi Wagner, practices include a wellness benefit for ski passes and gym memberships, in-studio yoga classes, a transparent work environment, at-home work opportunities, short-term leave benefits and a one-month paid sabbatical program for loyal team members. Our dedication to equality in the workplace stems from examples set by Principal Sarah Broughton, and opportunities are provided to the entire firm. The team is now nearly 50% women.

Nothing says equality like hard work. It’s part of the culture of our firm. If you put in the time, your gender doesn’t matter. – Sarah Broughton, AIA, R+B Principal

Laying a Foundation for the Future – Standing on the architectural integrity of our projects, our people and our passion, R+B is laying the foundation to move forward as a legacy firm that will stand the test of time and support and nurture our colleagues, clients and projects well into the future. The restoration and repurposing of Aspen’s historic Mesa Store building as our new firm headquarters, and the renovation of the historic Denver studio building, speaks to our commitment to future growth.

As R+B continues to grow, we are thrilled to build on our presence in both Aspen and Denver, and to be a part of the exciting possibilities ahead. – Amanda Christianson, AIA, R+B Director of Operations.

A Few Words from R+B Principals, John Rowland, AIA, and Sarah Broughton, AIA It means so much to us to be celebrating this significant anniversary and all that Rowland+Broughton has accomplished over the last fifteen years. As a firm, our passion to provide exceptional projects for our clients has always been an overriding goal. Focusing on personal and professional growth and potential has allowed us to flourish as a team and contribute a new sense of sophistication and forward thinking to the design world overall. Moving forward, we’re excited about creating a legacy and continuing to contribute to our community as we expand onto a national platform. Aspen is where it all began. We are looking forward to what the future holds and where it leads us.
