Rowland+Broughton Architecture / Urban Design / Interior Design is excited to share that we have been named architect for the new 464,601 square foot East Peak 8 Hotel and Condominiums project in Breckenridge, Colorado.
Completing the last 4.5-acre cornerstone site of Peak 8 in Breckenridge, the project is designed to further enrich the overall mountain ambiance and convenience of the Peak 7 and Peak 8 base areas. Capturing Lionheart Mountain Ventures’ vision of further invigorating mountain culture, the project will enhance the existing vernacular of Breckenridge mountain architecture through a combined program of transitional architectural characteristics and modern construction methods.
A cluster of gabled alpine structures complements existing base buildings and gives a nod to historic mining camps in the area, while a relaxed, welcoming mountain plaza will engage the local community and visitors alike. Cabin-style residential townhomes will be located along One Ski Hill Road, and a seven-floor landmark hotel, commercial amenities, dining experiences, and gathering places will be oriented toward the ski mountain.
Aligned with the surroundings, the R+B team established a non-reflective color palette of warm tans and grays, paired with natural materials such as granites, bronzed metals, and rich-toned woods. Exterior detailing includes steeply pitched cabin roof forms and accent elements characteristic of the mountains. The internal wood façade of the plaza will be punctuated with shade and shadow through a variety of decks, balconies and expressed windows. Vertical wood-slat screen walls playfully undulate toward upper floors to create a unique, vertical quilt-like pattern representative of a mountain range. Design and construction will strive to employ the latest recommended green building practices.
About the project, Rowland+Broughton Principal Sarah Broughton, AIA, NCIDQ states, “We are so honored and excited to be involved with this significant project, which is very meaningful to the Breckenridge community and will help reinforce it as one of the premier resort destinations in North America. Moving forward, seeing it come to fruition will underline our efforts to grow as a multi-dimensional firm committed to impacting place and experience through excellence of design.”
