Project Summary

8,250 Sq Ft

Rowland+Broughton borrowed from the fundamental forms of the Schindler House in Los Angeles and used an organizing element of feng shui, the ‘bagua’, to inspire preliminary schematics and massing for the home.

An allée of Spring Snow Crabapple trees draws you through an open steel gate, over a water feature, and into an entry courtyard designed for entertaining. A bank of floor-to-ceiling windows flanks the courtyard and blurs lines between interior and exterior spaces. Extensive glazing continued around the perimeter of the home brings optimal natural daylight deep inside, while strategically placed operable windows promote passive ventilation.

The one-acre site is curated with expansive landscaping for outdoor living and to capture views of the beautiful mountains and sunsets. Architecture and landscaping combine to create a profoundly serene and harmonious sense of place. The master suite was designed for health and wellbeing, and features hot yoga and spinning areas. This room opens directly to the 75-foot lap pool.
