Interior - Residential, Condos + Lofts

Set within the contemporary Glass House building in Denver’s vital LoHi neighborhood, this two-bedroom condominium was re–designed as an urban sanctuary in which a busy music executive is able to tune in, unwind, and re–establish balance. Views of the Cherry Creek and South Platte River confluence, with the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in the distance, create an inviting backdrop and inspired the design of a setting that is soothing yet supportive of the needs and functions of daily life. The fact that we had designed previous projects in different locations for this client motivated the design team to merge design with functionality to compose a balanced solution to his requirements.

Description

Addressing the tight, narrow layout of the main interior spaces, we worked to keep things as open as possible. As a nod to the client’s profession, we added interest by creating a stepped, level–changing ceiling curve inspired by musical sound waves and concert hall design. These elements also inspired the design of a unique textured concrete kitchen island, which creates an interesting focal point upon entering the condominium. Throughout, our inspiration remained simplistic and functional to maximize the potential of the minimal space, embrace the world outside, and inspire a soothing interior environment.

Significant glass walls throughout the space allowed the design to connect to the natural exterior environment, as well as the vibe of the surrounding neighborhood, while creating a sense of tranquility. Every room embraces the landscape. The living room, dining room, and master bedroom all face out toward stunning Rocky Mountains views. A balance of natural materials and a neutral color palette allows the natural beauty outside to be the focal point. Against the more monochromatic tones evident in the winter months, the interior finishes and colors will stand out and brighten the interior.
