Description

The objective to this aggressive renovation/addition was to create a modern adaptation while retaining the iconic gable forms of the existing traditional, lodge-style house. The floor plan was pushed and pulled to create a sense of compression and release as you move through the spaces. The celebration of the gable ends are in-filled completely with glass allowing natural light and surroundings to permeate inside. The interiors complement the restraint and texture of the exterior materials and form. A mix of modern Italian furniture and fixtures are underscored by hand-made artisan furniture and natural materials.

Our home was transformed through the amazing ideas of John and Sarah. It felt as if they could see through the walls in order to uncover a mountain contemporary home that lives as beautifully for two people as it does eight. It was through the efforts of the R+B team, their attention to detail, relentless follow-up and true partnership with our contractor that we have such a perfect home.

We would do another project anywhere with John and Sarah and the R+B team. While it might have been hard for us to envision what could be, it was easy for the team. Their creativity and commitment to excellence can be found everywhere in our home. – Homeowner, Black Birch Modern
